Five people were killed and at least42 people were injured after a loud explosion was heard in Kabul’s diplomatic area on Tuesday which houses several government buildings.
Four men and one woman were killed. The body of one of the victims was torn into pieces and we cannot verify if he was the suicide attacker,” Deputy Minister Mohammad Ayoub Salangi told AFP.
The blast, which took place in the car park of the Justice Ministry, was strong enough to rattle windows several kilometres away.
Police and paramedics rushed to the area where wounded were being taken to the hospital in ambulances.
However, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
Meanwhile, news agency, Pajhwok Afghan News, tweeted a picture of black smoke billowing above the city.
It was the fifth major attack to hit Kabul in just over two weeks, coinciding with a new offensive by Taliban insurgents across the country.
